Clinician — Capital Region (Lansing, MI)

 

Ele's Place is seeking Clinicians (3) openings to fill for the Capital Region Lansing, Michigan location. The Clinician will facilitate a peer support group at the evening bereavement program. A Clinician is responsible for ensuring an emotionally and physically safe group environment that promotes trust and sharing among group participants.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attends Briefing and Debriefing meetings each night assigned. 

  • Set up the group room prior to the start of the group, e.g. chairs, supplies, etc.

  • Greets group members as they arrive and distribute nametags. 

  • Provides structure and direction to the group process, including beginning each group with an opening circle, and closing with an appropriate closing ritual.

  • Acknowledges and facilitates the observance of new families, anniversaries, and closings.

  • Distributes articles, information, surveys etc. as directed by program staff.

  • Records group attendance.

  • Maintains picture board or other display of family pictures; return pictures to group members when they close. 

  • Debriefs informally with other clinicians prior to the Debriefing meeting with staff and facilitators. 

  • In Debriefing meeting, provides a brief overview of group themes and any relevant concerns.

  • Talks with program staff privately if there are any significant concerns or sensitive information that is not appropriate to share with the whole group.

  • Attends facilitator meetings and facilitator in-service meetings.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Expectations: This position may have access to children, sensitive information, financial information, etc. and is subject to a criminal background check. Background checks are completed before onboarding with Ele’s Place and annually thereafter to mitigate risk, ensuring everyone’s safety and well-being. Education Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or other mental-health related field.

  • Must complete Ele’s Place Facilitator training.

Certifications, Licensure, Registrations: Minimum of LLMSW, LLP, LLMFC, or LLPC state licensure (or equivalent state licensure with a master’s degree in a mental health-related field) is required.  Must maintain expertise in knowledge of licensure standards.

Experience Requirements:  

  • Minimum three (3) years’ post-licensure experience working in mental health-related field, particularly working with grief issues.

  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role.

  • Experience working with and inspiring volunteers.

  • Experience building and managing an effective, committed staff.

Position Requirements (Skills & Abilities):

  • Strong social work or counseling skills to provide and facilitate group support.

  • Ability to use technology (hardware and software) required.

  • Must be dedicated to the philosophy and purpose of grief services.

  • Must possess sound judgment, prioritization and follow-through skills, attention to detail, dependability, tact, and ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Adapt to flexible schedule as necessary.
