Ele's Place Ann Arbor Program Services
We welcome families into our Home for Healing Hearts, and are honored to serve grieving children, teens and their families.
If you have a grieving child or teen in your life, our Clinical Program Staff is available to help! Please call Ele’s Place Ann Arbor at 734.929.6640 or email [email protected] to learn more about our FREE OF CHARGE support programs that are offered for as long as a family needs.
Peer Grief Support – Evening Groups
Ele's Place Ann Arbor offers weekly peer support groups Monday through Thursday evenings for grieving children and teens ages 3-18, and their adults, free of charge. Evening support programs help children and teens understand that they are not alone in their grief and provide an opportunity to connect with others who have experienced the death of a person in an emotionally safe environment that supports the sharing of feelings, thoughts and experiences. Our support groups run during the school year (September-May). During the summer, we offer family activity nights for all families who have completed the enrollment process. All of our support services are offered at no cost to families.
Peer support groups are divided by age/grade: Preschool/Kindergarten, Early Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School and High School. Trained volunteers facilitate the children and teen groups with oversight by Ele's Place Ann Arbor Program Staff.
Support groups for the parents/guardians of enrolled children and teens are also available. Licensed mental health clinicians facilitate the adult groups. Ele's Place believes its’s important to be able to support adults in their grief, so the family can continue on their healing journey together.
Please visit the Ele’s Place How To Get Started and Peer Grief Support webpages to learn more.

Regular attendance is encouraged but not required. This is a free support group, but pre-registration is necessary. School-Based Grief Support – Ele’s Group
Throughout the school year, the Ele’s Place Ann Arbor school-based staff supports our school partners and their students through Ele’s Group, our school peer grief support groups, as well as through consultations with school staff members. Working in partnership with school clinical staff to provide 8-week peer support groups in many area schools, we strive to remove barriers and meet grieving students where they are – at school!

Ele's Place Ann Arbor History
Ele's Place Ann Arbor is the only nonprofit in Ann Arbor, and the surrounding southeast Michigan area, dedicated solely to helping children and teens work with and through grief alongside their peers. Unfortunately, the need for our services will never go away.
Ele’s Place Ann Arbor was established in 2007 by offering one night of weekly programming. In 2019, after opening the doors to our new dedicated healing center - A Home for Healing Hearts - we expanded our services to four nights, serving an average of 160 grieving children, teens, and their families each week. The need for our services is critical - in Washtenaw County alone, 4,500 children and teens could potentially benefit from the services of Ele’s Place.
Ele’s Place Ann Arbor serves grieving families from 10 Michigan counties, including: Genesee, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne. More than half of the families we serve are from Washtenaw County.
