Building Maintenance Technician | Part-Time (3.5-5 Hours/Week) | Ann Arbor

 

Ele's Place Ann Arbor is looking for a part-time Building Maintenance Technician responsible for assisting the Office/Building Administrator with building repair requests, routine maintenance of the building and building grounds, and other duties as requested.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Check the Maintenance/Repair Request Log for entries made by staff and address building maintenance needs and repairs as able. Examples include hanging pictures, replacing furnace filters, patching holes in walls, spot-painting, etc.
  • Check all tables, walls, floors, countertops, and other surfaces throughout the building for cleanliness, safety, and functionality. Make notes of cleaning needs in the Cleaning Log.
  • Check lights in each room (ceiling, lamps, etc.) and hallways. Notify Office/Building Administrator when bulbs need ordering.
  • Check clocks for operation/correct time. Change batteries/time as needed.
  • Check grounds for watering, mowing, weeding, raking, snowplowing, salting, and shoveling needs. Notify Office/Building Administrator of any needs.
  • Check grounds for maintenance and building needs and pick up trash, as needed. Sweep areas outside all doors, when necessary.
  • Move furniture or other items as requested.
  • Other duties as requested. 

Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocation or technical training preferred.

Position Requirements (Skills & Abilities):

  • Basic construction skills such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, etc.
  • Groundskeeping skills to maintain outdoor areas in need of maintenance.
  • Attention to detail to ensure that completion of jobs are in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication for discussing maintenance issues.
  • Physical stamina to handle a shift of being active and working on the building.
  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold conditions.

Experience: Minimum one to three years experience working in a basic building maintenance role.

Pay:  $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
