Development Director | Full-Time (40 Hours/Week) | Capital Region

 

Ele's Place is seeking a full-time Development Director for their Capital Region location. The Development Director is responsible for implementing and coordinating the branch development plan for Ele’s Place-Capital Region with the Branch Director and other supporting fundraising staff. Duties include developing and maintaining relationships with donors and prospective donors and is responsible for overseeing the major gifts program, corporate /sponsorship negotiations, and oversight of grants.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops a portfolio of prospective major gift donors, including corporate and private foundations to meet budget goals of branch.
  • Uses a moves management model to strategically cultivate relationships with prospective donors in anticipation of soliciting major and/or planned gifts.
  • Develops short and long range major gift tactical plan to ensure major gift fundraising expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Appropriately engages board members and others in prospect identification, the development of relationship strategies, the solicitation process, and donor stewardship.
  • Co-leads major gifts committee and provide regular briefings, timelines and action plans where applicable.
  • Identifies and oversees grants program for branch.
  • Serves as an ambassador of Ele’s Place, educating the public about issues surrounding children’s grief and the services Ele’s Place provides families.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with donors and prospective donors, especially Healing Hearts Society members, Legacy Society members, table captains, and tour guests.
  • Leads organization in Benevon Model Fundraising:
    • Promotes Tours of the Heart and recruits guests. Participates in Tours and follows-up with tour guests as appropriate.
    • Leads table captain training for annual breakfast.
  • Develops and leads corporate sponsorship plan.
  • Oversees execution of communication plan such as newsletters, email blasts, press releases and social media.
  • Assists Branch Director and Events and Outreach Coordinator with planning and production of donor events.  

Expectations:  This is a non-management position and must be able to work independently but collaboratively with all staff across the agency and with senior-level staff to grow the income and outputs of the branch location. This also includes the branch Program Director and upper-level fundraising staff.

Education Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation beneficial.

Experience Requirements:  Minimum one to three years of working in development for a nonprofit organization with major gift fundraising and grant writing experience. Experience in developing constituent relationships and working with boards and community volunteers.

Pay:  Minimum $55,000 - Salary commensurate with experience
